At drift we carefully choose the authors who form part of our catalogue because we know that the value of an institution largely depends on the people in their team. We have an enormous esteem for all of the authors we represent and have built relationships based on mutual trust. Our in-depth research of the literary field in Sub-Saharan Africa, has allowed us to meet many people: poets, fiction and non-fiction writers, biographers, researchers, journalists and curators who have all generously guided us. For this reason, and motivated by the help of so many people, we have made a unique selection,
a group of African writers whom we represent in Latin America and Spain in different areas of publishing (print, e-book & audio-book).
Because we understand the complexity of the translation process, the craft of finding the precise words to convey the essence of a literary work is of great importance to us. At drift, we work with translators specialized in literary texts.Once the representation has been negotiated and legal support has been provided, we can coordinate and edit the translation of the agreed works into Spanish This process may vary from time to time, depending on the publishing deal that has been negotiated with each specific author, as some publishers prefer to do the translations in house. Either way, drift will always supervise the translated material in order to ensure quality standards are being met.
We find the right publisher in Latin America and Spain, in order for the works to be edited and published in Spanish with a publisher that matches the author’s piece. We promote the authors and their works by designing a virtual and physical tour with stipulated dates for presentation to congresses, fairs and bookstores. In addition, we assemble the press kit for each release in different media. Likewise, we postulate the translated works for national and international awards, calls and contests.
